The Healing Power of Yoga

Better health is another reason why people take up yoga. Another main reason to practice yoga is stress reduction. Yoga’s two main benefits are interconnected and they are what make it a powerful healing therapy. Yoga is used to treat cancer, infertility and other physical ailments such as Parkinson’s, Parkinsonism, Parkinsonism, Parkinson’s, joint pain, insomnia, and multiple sclerosis. Yoga and the medical community are not aware of how yoga works. Understanding the relationship between stress, yoga and disease is key.

Stress vs. illness

According to medical research, 90 percent of illnesses and diseases are stress-related. These include cardiovascular diseases, depression, anxiety disorders, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), hypertension, certain types of diabetes, colitis, IBS, reproductive issues, and immune system suppression. Reduce stress as much as you can to help reduce illness and heal disease.

The fight or Flight Response

Stress is a result of the sympathetic nervous response, or “fight or flee” reaction: a rapid increase in heart rate, blood pressure and sweating. The fight or flight reaction reduces blood supply to internal organs and shuts down digestion. This stress response is good in the short term. The fight-or-flight response helps us respond to environmental threats by either fighting them or running away from them. But long-term exposure to stress can be harmful. It causes excessive wear and tear in the body, and limits the body’s ability to maintain and heal itself.
